California’s best backpacking trip may be the 60 mile Lost Coast Trail from the mouth of the Mattole River (Humboldt County), through Shelter Cove and Sinkyone Wilderness, to Black Sands Beach (Mendocino County). This was a short overnight mission from Shelter Cove down to Bear Harbor using hand sewn ultralight backpacking gear. The tarp is a design by Ray Jardine, the backpack was sewn from a pattern as well – with a tuna can stove and a sleeping quilt (Ray Jardine) things stay pretty light. The first photos are from the Green River, UT – where we were a few days before. This is a tune that we recorded called “Wandering”. ukulele, dobro, acoustic guitar, harmonica, beats, bass www.wesdavismusic Music by Wes Davis and Becca Warner 2009.
