Ultralight G4 Backpack Kit Review
This is a review of the ultralight G4 Backpack Kit that I ordered from Questoutfitters.com The pack came in at 13 3/8 ounces or 379 grams for those of you that like your beer warm. If you decide to build one of these I would reccomend that you check out: groups.yahoo.com There are alot of pictures that can help you out and a pretty active forum.

That suspicious loop is for an ice axe. Drop the axe in handle first then flip it back up to the pack and lash it off.
Quality pack for your first.

That is one-beautiful-pack. Very nice color and finished workmanship. Looks pretty cool from here. Thanks for showing it. Have you seen Intenseangler and the video he made on his homemade pack? It’s well worth the looksee. // Taking care with your pack, where you put it, how you load, where you’re walking, can go a long way toward the longevity of that thinner nylon. Just think about what you’re doing. Hope to see a video on how this pack rides and performs. Thanks again.

You use the drawstring only when you need to overload the pack to the top. During normal packing, you just use th velcro roll top.

Really depends on your bag I think. I believe the idea of the Pooch was to allow your sleeping bag to retain abit more loft. I’m using a Western Mountaineering Mightlite and I’m sure I could get away without the extra space.

If I removed the “pooch” at the bottom, would I be losing a lot of space for my synthetic back to fit in there???? I don’t like it and it sounds tough to sew!
How much weight can you haul in this?

Does it have water bottle pouches on the side? Overall how would you rate this pack on a scale of 1 to 10(1 being “this thing is a piece of crap” and 10 being “wow”?
